A shoulder-mounted planar antenna for mobile radio applications
نویسندگان
چکیده
A new planar antenna, suitable for use on a shoulder, has been studied for police and fire service portable radios in the 350-MHz band. This shoulder-mounted antenna, which is a type of planar inverted F antenna (PIFA), features extreme compactness while maintaining a higher gain than that of a conventional whip antenna and small impedance changes in the presence of a human body. The low-profile structure enables the antenna to be unseen when the operator wears a jacket. A prototype of the antenna has been built and tested, and the measured impedance characteristics and the radiation patterns are presented. Emphasis is placed on the effect of the human body. The antenna provides a gain of 5.5 dBd, which is 3.5 dB higher than that of a whip antenna. Field measurements verified the excellent performance under a multiple propagation environment.

متن کاملUWB Planar Conical Horn-Shaped Self-Complementary Bow-Tie Antenna
An ultra-wideband (UWB) self-complementary planar bow-tie antenna (SCPBTA) is proposed. The antenna consists of a printed conical horn-shaped (CHS) radiator and a counterpart CHS slot etched on a rectangular ground plane. The printed CHS radiator is connected directly to the 50Ω microstrip line by bending the end portion of the feed line. As a result, the antenna has a simple structure which do...

This paper develops a computational technique for finding the maximum allowable load of mobile manipulators for a given trajectory. The maximum allowable loads which can be achieved by a mobile manipulator during a given trajectory are limited by the number of factors; probably the dynamic properties of mobile base and mounted manipulator, their actuator limitations and additional constraints a...
متن کاملA compact stacked Quasi-fractal microstrip antenna for RFID applications
In this paper, we propose a new compact quasi-fractal shaped microstrip antenna that consists of a hexagonal patch as the main radiator and a complementary stacked patch as the parasitic element. The overall surface of the proposed quasi-fractal patch is about 55% lower than the conventional hexagonal patch. Using of stacked technique, the gain reduction of compression technique is almost compe...
